One of the joys of living here at Old Goat Farm is dining in the garden. To be surrounded by the beauty of the garden and enjoying good food just can’t be beat. The sounds of all the different birds out in the pasture is something you can only experience on a farm. We have had a number of customers, that come to our Christmas event, request that we do something in the summer. Not everyone is a gardener but most everyone enjoys the garden. We host a number of garden clubs for tours and they bring their own picnic but that’s not quite the same as dinner in the garden.
Rustic Vegetable Plate
We tried having a dinner last summer and it was a hit so we are going to do it again. We are partnering again with our friend Meghan who owns ‘Conceptual Catering’. We will be doing two separate events, a vegetarian dinner on August 18th and a similar menu on September 1st, but for that one some of the dishes will have meat included in the recipes. Meghan comes up with her own recipes and develops the menu specifically for this event. Both events are 8 course meals.
Romanesco with Romesco
I had the opportunity this past weekend to taste this years menu. I escorted a tour for Pacific Horticulture Society of Seattle area gardens and the farewell dinner was here in the garden catered by Conceptual Catering. A few of the people on the tour commented that it was the best meal they had while on their tour and they were eating dinners in some of the best restaurants downtown.
Shanghai Candy Coated Berries
The dinner will be served on the lawn behind the house, right in the middle of the perennial borders. Because it will be a leisurely dinner, you will have time to stroll the garden between courses or go out into the field and visit the animals. It is a beautiful way to spend a summer evening and a nice way to help support us in our animal rescue effort. The cost of this event is $50/person plus tax. To make reservations you can contact us by email oldgoatfarm@comncast.net or give us a call 360-893-1261.
I’m certainly looking forward to enjoying Meghan’s wonderful cooking and unique menu. It will be truly unforgettable. I hope you are able to join us.
